How to plan for an ultimate-eating trip (And the wallet doesn't tear away)
By Bongtao Chaiyanat Satjaporamet
Hi-Lights :
In an era when social media flourished and picking the camera before picking the spoon became normal. Making this world has a new group of people called "foodie" that means people with a special interest or knowledge of food. Or if talking in another way is people who are eating are a big thing in life. To eat anything, must choose carefully before picking up to the mouth. Which restaurant is delicious, no matter how far it is, there is no obstacle to traveling overseas or even across the world to sample?
Yes ... all told, I think I am one of the people who think eating is a big thing. Especially when traveling.
Often, I travel Without having many plans, where to go, what to see or what museum will visit. But planning for the meals very well because many restaurants must book in advance. Or sometimes have a backup plan that it cannot eat there, will go to which restaurant instead. Because in this modern-day, foodie tourists who the food is a major destination for traveling, are increasing in numbers around the world. Eating food in some good restaurants may become difficult as we are not expected if we are not planning well enough.
Usually, good and famous restaurants where have honor award adorned with many guarantees. Whether it is Michelin of France or the Tabelog of Japan, always must book in advance. The more famous, the earlier be booked in advance. In our home culture, booking seats in restaurants may not be very widespread. Some people may feel that booking a restaurant in advance for a month is too much. But, booking seats in restaurants is very common in many countries. For example, one of the world's longest pre-booked restaurants is El Cellar de Can Roca in Spain that must reserve seats up to 11 months in advance. While I was writing this article, I checked the website of the restaurant again. Can confirm that this is true because the seats in the store are full every day, every month in advance until the middle of next year already.
Some stores will have an online booking system which, if any store opened this system, will make it easier because we can book by ourselves. But this system has disadvantages because of its simplicity Many people have booked and left the reservation and forgotten which negatively affects the restaurant because of losing the opportunity to receive customers and prepared food ingredients may have to be discarded. Therefore, there are still many restaurants that still adhere to using old and simple systems, is to call to book only. If anyone stays comfortably in five-star hotels, then there is no problem. Because they can use the concierge service to help make reservations for them. Many hotels are reputed to have a good concierge and have a good relationship with the famous restaurant that fully booked all the time. They can call to find the seat as if he has magic. As for the alternatives that I use regularly is a personal assistant service which is a supplementary service for some types of credit cards. We can call and tell the name of the restaurant, contact number and the date we want to go. Then the service team will manage to contact the restaurant for themselves. It is very convenient because we do not have to pay for long-distance phone calls ourselves.
The restaurant is good and popular, most of them come with quality salons, which is often a danger to our wallets and deposit accounts. For those who do not dare to spend money on eating too much or limited travel time, do not want to waste time in the restaurant for too long, I suggest that you try to check that the restaurant we want to go to is it open for lunch as well? Because lunch is a very good choice because on average, the price is almost half the dinner. And is often a set that takes a shorter serving time than dinner. Most will be completed within two hours, causing not to waste too much time traveling.
As for a cool restaurant that does not accept reservations but accepts only walk-in customers which are mostly a mid-level, does not have to have many rituals but the taste is exceptionally delicious. This kind of place has both advantages and disadvantages. The advantage is that, of course, you can eat if the shop is not closed. But the disadvantage is that you must eat, of course, must be exchanged by waiting in front of the restaurant for a while. The longest waiting time of my experience is almost three hours! We must weigh well if the store is worth the wait or not. Especially, during the winter, standing outside the restaurant until the hands are hard, the ears are stiff may become worthless torture.
I asked the principles of planning my meal when traveling There are three things that I hold as a basis for every trip. No matter where I go.
First - Eat a variety. That is, I will try to arrange the restaurants on the same trip, ranging from a magnificent luxury one that in this life may not come often to ordinary places, that do not require reservations. And it is often that this kind of restaurant became the most impressive restaurant on the trip.
Second – Flexibility, even eating is a very big deal. But travel abroad is still a lot to see. Don't forget to allow time to do other things too. May be separated for some days, days that do not need to focus on eating. To make the travel schedule more flexible.
Third- End with a great meal, I like to arrange the dinner of the last day to be the best meal or is a meal that I can fully indulge myself. Order things that want to eat without having to think much (But still have a consciousness, not to go to open a bottle of wine for a hundred thousand) In order to end the trip, the finale ended beautifully. Take it like the tour package likes to use the description as "Going home with unforgettable memories"
